Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has accused the legal department of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) of collusion in the award of an $800 million garnishee order against the FCTA.
The garnishee order, which was recently set aside by the Court of Appeal, was awarded to the Nigeria Film Corporation for a breach of a contractual obligation.
Minister Wike expressed his determination to investigate the matter and ensure that such situations do not recur, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability in the administration. He also noted that he was less than impressed with his observations and assessments of the FCTA’s operations during his tours of the FCT and stressed the importance of addressing issues related to procurement processes.

Wike charged the newly sworn-in Mandate Secretaries with translating the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu into tangible actions that will shape the future of the FCT. He highlighted key areas of focus, including the development of satellite towns, boosting internally generated revenue, restoring the Abuja Master Plan, addressing public transportation challenges, enhancing security, promoting tourism, improving education, and addressing environmental sanitation.
Additionally, he urged the Mandate Secretary of the Transportation Secretariat to resuscitate the Abuja metro and revive the Abuja Urban Mass Transit Buses or face potential consequences.
