Masters or PhD position in Entomology at University of Delaware, USA

The Agricultural Entomology Lab at the University of Delaware is actively seeking graduate research assistants (MS or PhD) to join their team. The lab is focused on understanding the ecology and evolution of insects in agricultural landscapes within a changing world. Through a combination of field experiments, genomics, and ecoinformatics, the lab aims to unravel insect movements, adaptation mechanisms, and the impact of environmental changes on insects. The lab is also dedicated to translating research outcomes into practical pest management strategies for industry stakeholders.

Lab Overview:

• The lab, established in Fall 2021, is led by a team committed to fostering a diverse and interdisciplinary research environment.
• Research areas encompass various aspects, including precision pest management, insect roles as waste upcyclers, pest management in poultry and crop systems, and responses to environmental changes.

Position Details:

• Position: Graduate Research Assistant (MS or PhD)
• Research Focus: Applying data science and ecoinformatics to understand insect responses to environmental changes.
• The lab has collected substantial datasets over multiple years, and applicants will have the opportunity to analyze these datasets for both fundamental and applied research questions.

Qualifications:

• MS applicants should possess familiarity with R and a strong interest in advancing their quantitative skills.
• PhD applicants should hold a MS degree, be proficient in coding with R, and have a keen interest in mastering ecoinformatics approaches.

Start Date: Flexible, but Spring 2024 is ideal.
