Mahrez set for Saudi move as Man City accept bid from Al Ahli

Manchester City have agreed to a bid of up to 30 million pounds (38.7 million dollars) from Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli for Algerian international, Riyad Mahrez.

Due to this development, the 32-year-old winger has been granted permission to miss Manchester City’s pre-season tour of Asia, despite their treble-winning status.

The next step for Mahrez involves negotiating the terms of his potential transfer to Al Ahli, a Saudi Pro League team based in Jeddah.

Sources have revealed that Al Ahli have offered a three-year contract to the former Leicester City player.

Mahrez’s absence from the 25-man Manchester City squad set to depart for Japan and South Korea on Wednesday indicates a likely departure from the English club.

In the 2022/2023 season, Mahrez expressed frustration over his limited game time, making just 22 starts in the English Premier League (EPL) and being left on the bench as an unused substitute during the final matches of the English FA Cup and UEFA Champions League.

Having initially joined Manchester City in 2018 for a deal worth 60 million pounds from Leicester City, Mahrez played a significant role in helping the Foxes secure the EPL title two years prior to his transfer. During his tenure with Manchester City, he went on to win the league title four more times under the management of Pep Guardiola.
