Lagos Governorship Election Tribunal to Announce Verdict on Sanwo-Olu’s Victory

The Lagos Governorship Election Petition Tribunal is poised to unveil its judgment on Monday, settling the legal challenges to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s election win.

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party’s gubernatorial candidate, and Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have both contested the results of the March 18th governorship election, which saw Sanwo-Olu declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

After lawyers presented their final written arguments on August 12, the tribunal is now ready to deliver its judgment. In the election, Sanwo-Olu secured a significant victory with 762,134 votes, defeating Rhodes-Vivour, who garnered 312,329 votes. Olajide Adediran (Jandor) of the PDP came in third with 62,449 votes. The tribunal’s decision will provide conclusive resolution to the contested election results.
