Court Orders VeryDarkMan to Remove Defamatory Posts About Femi Falana and Falz
The Lagos State High Court has ordered social media critic Martin Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, to remove defamatory statements and videos he posted about renowned lawyer and human rights activist Femi Falana (SAN) and his son, rapper Folarin Falana (popularly known as Falz).
Delivering his ruling on Monday, Justice M. O. Dawodu addressed remarks and videos posted by VeryDarkMan on September 24, 2024, which linked the Falanas to the controversial social media personality Bobrisky. The court found these claims defamatory and damaging to their reputation.
According to the ruling, VeryDarkMan’s statements misrepresented the Falanas and were intended to harm their public image. The judge ordered him to immediately delete the defamatory content from all social media platforms and refrain from making further similar statements.
Falz and his father initiated legal action after VeryDarkMan alleged that they were involved in securing a presidential pardon for Bobrisky, who has faced legal troubles. Falz demanded a retraction of the claims, calling them baseless and harmful to their reputation.

During court proceedings, the judge ruled that VeryDarkMan must comply with the injunction, preventing him from making further defamatory statements until the case proceeds.
This ruling follows an earlier instance where VeryDarkMan, during a House of Representatives hearing, expressed regret and stated that he did not believe Femi Falana was involved in the allegations. He also urged Falz to join him in the fight against corruption in Nigeria.
