The Lagos State High Court has ordered social media critic Martin Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, to remove defamatory statements and videos he posted concerning renowned lawyer and human rights activist Femi Falana (SAN) and his son, rapper Folarin Falana (popularly known as Falz).
During his Monday verdict, Justice M. O. Dawodu focused on remarks and videos posted by VeryDarkMan on September 24, 2024, which connected the Falanas to the infamous social media figure Bobrisky. The remarks were judged by the court to be defamatory and detrimental to their reputation.
According to the court’s ruling, VeryDarkMan’s false claims harmed the public image of the Falanas, and his actions were intended to defame them. The judge ordered VeryDarkMan to immediately remove the defamatory content from all his social media platforms and refrain from further publication of similar materials.

Falz and his father had taken legal action after VeryDarkMan released videos suggesting their involvement in securing a presidential pardon for Bobrisky, who has been embroiled in legal issues. Falz demanded a retraction of the statements, which he described as baseless and injurious to their reputation.

In court, the judge ruled that the defamatory publications must be taken down, and VeryDarkMan was served with an injunction preventing him from making further comments until the case proceeds.
This development comes after VeryDarkMan expressed regret during a House of Representatives hearing, stating that he did not believe Falana was involved in the allegations. He also called on Falz to join him in the fight against corruption in Nigeria.
