Contrary to widespread reports, the Kano State Government has refuted claims of the release of TikToker Murja Kunya, asserting that she is currently facing fresh allegations and undergoing interrogation by security agents.
The Kano State Commissioner for Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, clarified the situation in a statement, emphasizing that Murja Kunya was arraigned before an Upper Shari’ah Court on charges related to sharing vulgar video content on social media.
According to the commissioner, the court ordered her remand in a correctional center and scheduled further proceedings for Tuesday, February 20, 2024, after considering an application for her bail. However, new allegations emerged, leading to her removal for investigation by security agencies. Dantiye dismissed rumors of her release, stressing that her case is still ongoing and will follow the legal process until its final determination by the court.
