During a recent inspection tour of the Kaduna Refinery and Petrochemicals Company Limited (KRPC), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, disclosed that the refinery’s ongoing quick-fix project is expected to resume operations by the end of 2024.
The Minister expressed his trust in the refinery’s rehabilitation process and noted that a significant amount of work has already been completed. He also underlined how determined the Federal Government is to see that the project is finished on schedule.
Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd., confirmed that the Kaduna Refinery’s fuel facility will be completely operational by the end of 2024. Kyari stated that all the tools and manpower required to restart the refinery are available, with an emphasis on reaching a quick-fix capacity of 60,000 barrels per day.

The Minister emphasized how vital it is to get the refinery back up and running, pointing out that both the country’s economic health and energy security depend on it, and that both are essential to sustainable growth.
Following the 14th Refineries Rehabilitation Steering Committee Meeting, NNPC Limited officials at various levels participated in the inspection visit.
