In a significant operation aimed at quelling the activities of criminal elements, troops of Joint Task Force Operation UDO KA successfully neutralized an IPOB/ESN commander in Imo State, Nigeria.
Following the seizure of the notorious IPOB/ESN stronghold at Mother Valley, the criminal elements had been attempting to establish alternative camps in the surrounding areas and other locations. Responding to reliable intelligence, troops conducted special clearance operations in the general area of Udda, Ihittukwa, and Orsumoghu in Orsu Local Government Area, Imo State, on May 6, 2024.

During the operation, troops engaged with terrorists, who resorted to using improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in an attempt to halt the advance of the combined forces. However, the troops’ superior firepower and tactical prowess forced the criminals to flee in disarray. In the exchange, four irredentists were neutralized, while others managed to escape with gunshot wounds.

Notably, one of the IPOB/ESN commanders, identified as TOCHUKWU, also known as OJOTO, in charge of the Ihietukwa Command, was neutralized during the operation. Among the items recovered from the hiding places of the criminals were an AK-47 rifle with two magazines, two automatic pump-action guns, handheld Baofeng radios, a laptop, and a Techno phone. Additionally, car keys, suspected marijuana, Biafran currencies, five IEDs, materials for making IEDs, batteries used for detonation, and various charms were also seized.
Major General Hassan DADA, the Force Commander of Joint Task Force Operation UDO KA, reiterated the commitment of the Joint Task Force to maintaining security and tranquility in the area. He urged the public to continue providing timely, reliable, and credible information by utilizing the Toll-Free number 193 and selecting Option 2 to communicate with a representative in person.
The successful operation signifies a significant blow to the activities of IPOB/ESN in the region and underscores the determination of security forces to rid Imo State of criminal elements, ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens.
