Joint Task Force Conducts Clearance Operation in South East

On October 15, 2023, the Joint Task Force South East Operation UDO KA II carried out a successful clearance operation in various areas, based on valuable intelligence.

The operation extended to Lilu Community, Mother Valley, and Orsumoghu Forest in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State, as well as Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Throughout the clearance operations, the troops encountered and safely detonated numerous Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in situ, as well as various types of obstacles set by terrorists.

The dedicated troops also engaged with the terrorists, who subsequently fled into nearby bushes, sustaining gunshot wounds due to the superior firepower of the military. Several terrorist camps and shrines were destroyed during these operations. Additionally, one suspect was apprehended, and various items were recovered from the camps, including materials used for making IEDs, motorcycles, stored food, and other logistical items.

The Joint Task Force Operation UDO KA II appeals to the law-abiding and conscientious citizens of the South-East region to remain vigilant and continue providing timely, credible, and reliable information that will assist in the arrest of those who managed to escape with injuries of varying degrees.

The Task Force also urges the South East region to disregard deceptive messages or claims by self-proclaimed leaders and assures the public that efforts to rid the region of criminal activities will persist.
