Joint Nigerian Army and DSS Operation Foils Boko Haram Attack on Kano

In a remarkable joint operation, the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS), effectively thwarted an impending terrorist attack on Kano. On Friday, November 3, 2023, an early morning raid was painstakingly carried out in Kano State’s Gezawa Local Government Area.

The mission’s principal goal was to locate and detain suspected Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) who were thought to be leading a major operation in Kano State.

Responding quickly to the potential threat, the military sprung into action and apprehended two men suspected of having ties to Boko Haram. The raid also uncovered a large cache of weapons and supplies needed in the fabrication of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). Five AK-47 rifles, five AK-47 rifle magazines, a Rocket Propelled Gun (RPG), five RPG bombs, six hand grenades, desert camouflage clothing, magazine pouches, and IED components were among the things seized.

This effective combined operation demonstrates the potential of collaboration between the Nigerian Army and other security services, demonstrating their shared desire to defeat insurgency and address the nation’s security concerns.

The Nigerian Army reiterates its steadfast commitment to defending the lives and property of Nigerian citizens, emphasizing its commitment to counterinsurgency and resolving diverse security concerns around the country.
