In a significant stride towards bolstering infrastructural development, the Jigawa State Government has announced the receipt of N7 billion from the Federal Government’s approved Infrastructural Special Grants Package. The funds, which amount to a portion of the total N21 billion grant, are earmarked to fuel crucial developmental projects within the state.
This disclosure was made by Babangida Umar Gantsa, the Commissioner of Budget and Economic Planning, during the aftermath of the 3rd State Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday. Gantsa emphasized that the Jigawa State Government is unwavering in its commitment to enhance the standard of living for its citizens.
In tandem with this financial boost, the state government has also given the green light to a supplementary budget of N44.7 billion. This supplementary budget is strategically designed to ensure the seamless completion of diverse ongoing projects inherited from the previous administration led by Muhammad Badaru Abubakar.

Further breaking down the allocation, Commissioner Babangida outlined that the Ministry of Works and Transport will receive N13 billion, while both the Ministries of Health and Education will each be allocated N3 billion. The remainder of the total sum will be judiciously utilized to facilitate other essential services that directly benefit the residents of Jigawa State.
The commitment to infrastructural enhancement was also underscored by the Commissioner of Information, Youth, Sport, and Culture, who revealed that the State Executive Council has endorsed a sum exceeding N192 million for the expansion of drainages in Kafin Hausa local government.
With a robust budgetary allocation of N185 billion for the fiscal year 2023, Jigawa State continues to prioritize the development and prosperity of its communities through strategic financial management and targeted investment in crucial sectors.
