In a significant move towards inclusivity, the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has declared that the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in 2024 will be free of charge for individuals with disabilities who intend to register for the examination.
Prof Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of JAMB, revealed this during a media interactive session held to kickstart the registration process for the 2024 UTME. As part of JAMB’s commitment to support persons with disabilities, the board will issue free application documents to all categories of individuals living with disabilities.

To ensure a level playing field for all candidates, Oloyede announced that audio books will be provided for blind candidates. This initiative is seen as a proactive step to address the needs of visually impaired candidates, and it aligns with the recommendations stemming from the first National Conference on Equal Opportunity of Access to Higher Education in Nigeria.
