Israeli Forces Conduct West Bank Raids, Arrest Hundreds, Kill 2

In a recent series of overnight raids in the occupied West Bank, Israeli forces arrested hundreds of individuals and left two people dead in the Jalazone refugee camp, near the city of Ramallah.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed the casualties, shedding light on a tense situation that continues to escalate in the region.

Residents of Jalazone recounted that Israeli forces launched a large-scale raid on the camp, leading to numerous arrests and clashes with both armed individuals and young protestors who hurled stones in protest. According to the Health Ministry, around 20 people were detained during the operation.

As of now, Israeli forces have withdrawn to the camp’s outskirts, but the situation remains highly volatile. The Israeli army has not released an official statement regarding the incidents.

Reports indicate that, overnight, approximately 120 individuals believed to be Palestinians were arrested across the West Bank. Of these, 59 were detained in the city of Hebron, including 40 individuals who hailed from the Gaza Strip.

The mounting tensions have also prompted international concern, with European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell urging the acceleration of aid deliveries to Gaza. Borrell emphasized the need for a “humanitarian pause” in the ongoing conflict, recognizing the dire situation facing Gaza’s civilian population.

Meanwhile, Norway’s Justice Minister, Emilie Enger Mehl, condemned the attacks on civilians and pledged the country’s readiness to provide resources for a potential investigation into war crimes in Gaza and Israel. Mehl underlined the gravity of the situation, stating that “war crimes are never acceptable,” and those responsible should be held accountable.

While the Security Council rejected a Russian draft resolution seeking a “humanitarian pause,” the international community remains engaged in diplomatic efforts to address the crisis.
