The Indonesian ambassador to Nigeria, Dr. Usra Harahap, has expressed a keen interest in strengthening relations with the government of Enugu State, Nigeria.
He led a delegation from the Republic of Indonesia on a business and working visit to Governor Peter Mbah at the Government House in Enugu.
During the visit, the ambassador discussed areas of potential collaboration that would be mutually beneficial for Enugu State and Indonesia, including trade, investment, and other socio-economic ventures.

Ambassador Usra highlighted the potential for increased trade, knowledge exchange, and collaborative investment between Indonesia and Enugu State. He extended an invitation to Governor Peter Mbah and the Enugu business community to participate in a Trade Expo in Indonesia in October 2023, providing opportunities for networking and exposure to Indonesian services and business opportunities.
The ambassador expressed Indonesia’s interest in investing in Enugu State’s energy and mining sectors, recognizing the state’s wealth of mineral resources, agriculture, and tourism potential. He also mentioned Indonesia’s scholarship program to enable bright students from Enugu to pursue degrees in Indonesia.
Governor Peter Mbah welcomed the ambassador’s interest in the state and emphasized that Enugu State was ready to partner with Indonesian investors. He highlighted the investment opportunities in Enugu, particularly in sectors such as agriculture, minerals, and energy, including coal and oil and gas. Governor Mbah expressed his commitment to making Enugu State an attractive investment destination with policies to support ease of doing business and economic growth.
The governor also emphasized the state’s focus on security and its efforts to create a conducive environment for business, citing Enugu’s status as one of the safest states for investment in terms of security.
Enugu State aims to become a hub for agro-allied industrialization, with a special economic zone designated for agro-allied processing industries and other investment prospects.
This visit by the Indonesian delegation signifies a growing interest in economic cooperation and investment partnerships between Nigerian states and international partners, further contributing to Nigeria’s economic development.
