IGP redeploys Imo CP

The Imo State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Barde, has been redeployed by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, due to allegations of partisanship.

This decision was announced by Egbetokun during a Channels Television programme last night.

He clarified that the change in leadership is not an admission of guilt by the Commissioner but is aimed at ensuring neutrality ahead of the upcoming elections.

In a related development, the Inspector General of Police has authorized the distribution of 220 operational vehicles, which include water cannons, armoured personnel carriers, helmets, bulletproof vests, and tear gas canisters, to enhance security management in preparation for the gubernatorial elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi states.

Previously, Egbetokun had organized training for the police officers involved in election security and sought Federal Government approval for their allowances and support to boost their morale during the operations.
