The announcement follows a recent visit by the Honourable Chief Commissioner of the Public Complaints Commission, Hon. Abimbola Ayo-Yusuf, and her team to the Force Headquarters. During this meeting, the IGP and the delegation engaged in extensive discussions concerning mutual interests and potential areas of collaboration.
As part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen accountability within the police system, the IGP has undertaken a series of initiatives. These include reinforcing the Monitoring Unit, X-Squad, and the Complaint Response Unit (CRU). Furthermore, the establishment of a Complaint Response Unit in all states has been approved, with the objective of curbing misconducts, excesses, and unprofessionalism among police officers nationwide.
To lead this important unit, the IGP has appointed CSP El-Mustapha Sani as the new head of the Complaint Response Unit. CSP Sani brings a wealth of experience and a distinguished service record to this role. His background in complaint resolution within the Public Complaint Bureau of the Force Public Relations Department, coupled with his dedication to justice and fairness, make him a fitting choice for this responsibility.
Emphasizing the significance of the partnership between the police and the public, the IGP encourages all stakeholders, including civil society organizations and other law enforcement agencies, to collaborate closely with Police Complaint Response Units. This collaborative approach aims to curb misconduct, uphold professionalism, and maintain a strong connection between law enforcement and the community.
The IGP’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and the protection of citizens’ rights is central to the goal of building public trust and fostering a harmonious relationship between the police and the people they serve.
The Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of Ag. IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, remains dedicated to promoting professionalism, ethical conduct, and an unwavering commitment to justice in service to the nation.
