In a surprising turn of events, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has disclosed a cunning infiltration into its system by an undercover reporter, @Theumar_audu, who cunningly outsmarted their mobilization process despite having completed service in 2019.
Eddy Megwa, the spokesperson for the NYSC, revealed intriguing details behind this breach. “Our system isn’t devoid of checks and balances,” Megwa stressed. “Initially rejected due to past service, the reporter manipulated the system by altering contact details, allowing re-entry and a posting in Osun State.”This instance of manipulation has triggered a reevaluation within the NYSC to fortify their protocols. Megwa clarified their reliance on university-issued graduate lists rather than maintaining a database of graduates themselves.

When questioned about preventing such occurrences, Megwa affirmed, “Assessing certificates isn’t our role.” Instead, NYSC has taken a step by inviting foreign students for assessments, emphasizing the program’s elite nature and the critical role of English proficiency.Sharing past experiences, Megwa recalled a shocking incident from 2006 when the NYSC Director-General encountered a corps member unable to provide their final project’s title. An ensuing investigation uncovered illicit inclusion in a university’s graduate list. This revelation underscores the NYSC’s resolve to strengthen their system, ensuring its integrity against manipulative attempts in the future.
