How to Convert HND Certificate to B.Sc Through NBTE’s One-Year Programme

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has launched an innovative online top-up programme aimed at allowing Higher National Diploma (HND) holders to elevate their qualifications to Bachelor’s Degrees through a one-year online course, conducted in collaboration with accredited foreign universities.

The initiative is designed to facilitate the upward mobility of HND holders and provide them with opportunities to attain higher degrees.

According to a statement released by the NBTE’s Head of Media Unit, Mrs. Fatima Abubakar, the programme offers a streamlined process for HND holders to convert their certificates into Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) credentials.

The initiative is part of the board’s efforts to enhance the educational prospects of HND holders and align their qualifications with the evolving demands of the job market.

The process involves several steps, which are outlined in detail below:

1. Possession of a recognized HND certificate from an approved polytechnic or monotechnic.
2. Access the admission portal at https://admission.topup.nbte.gov.ng and log in using existing account details, if applicable.
3. Complete the necessary details related to the existing HND qualification.
4. After account creation, submit a new application.
5. Select a university programme that aligns with NBTE-approved technical and vocational fields.
6. Choose the desired institute to study at, view programme fees, and access further details about the institute’s offerings.
7. Upon form submission, access the application status under the ‘my applications’ tab and proceed with payment of the application form fee (USD 100) to initiate the admission processing.
8. Download the fees receipt for the application form payment from the payments tab.
9. Upon approval of admission by the chosen university, download the admission letter from the ‘my application’ section.

The online top-up programme is expected to provide HND holders with a flexible and accessible pathway to upgrade their qualifications, enhance their career prospects, and contribute more effectively to their respective fields.
