Technology-Driven Governance: Hon. Michael Uchenna Ogalla’s Vision
By Engr. Chikwado Odo
Simon Sinek once stated that leadership is not about the next election but about the next generation. This philosophy has become a practical reality under the leadership of Hon. Michael Uchenna Ogalla, the council chairman of Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State.
In Igbo-Eze North, a technology-driven governance approach is taking centre stage, with a strong focus on enhancing staff performance and commitment. Hon. Ogalla’s administration is determined to explore innovative solutions in data analysis, storage, and access to government information—ensuring seamless retrieval for future generations.
A firm believer in technology as a solution to human challenges, Hon. Ogalla has secured another groundbreaking initiative: providing 24-hour high-speed internet access to the council. This development was set in motion on Thursday, February 13, 2025, when the Enterprise Account Manager of MTN Nigeria, Chief Dr. Chinonye Moneke, paid a courtesy visit to the council headquarters.
In an exclusive interview with our media team, Hon. Ogalla shared insights from his 30-minute meeting with Dr. Moneke. He emphasized that the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has set a remarkable standard in governance with a well-structured operational framework. Inspired by this model, Hon. Ogalla’s administration is committed to mirroring the governor’s innovative leadership, which has earned the admiration of the people of Enugu through widespread developmental achievements.
Emerging Magazine gathered that Igbo-Eze North is at the forefront of integrating technology into governance.
This critical project at the council headquarters will ensure uninterrupted broadband internet access for staff and the chairman’s aides, significantly improving service delivery.
During an interactive session, Hon. Ogalla highlighted the necessity of transitioning from analog to digital records, emphasizing the importance of secure cloud storage and a reliable database with simple algorithms. To achieve this, his administration has established a data server designed to serve the council long after his tenure.
The server will offer 24/7 free access to council offices, staff, and key government facilities within its coverage area.
Dr. Moneke outlined the numerous advantages of this specialized internet system, including e-commerce, e-governance, online meetings, and an e-library. The system’s dedicated, high-speed features will enable officials to handle tasks efficiently, whether in the office or remotely, eliminating spatial constraints in government operations.
Indeed, the enterprising people of Igbo-Eze North are witnessing a new era of transformation and purposeful leadership, driven by innovation under Hon. Ogalla’s stewardship.
