Gov. Otti Orders Relocation of Vehicles, Shops Along Abia State Highways

In a bid to enhance traffic flow, road safety, and urban aesthetics, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has issued a directive for the immediate relocation of heavy-duty trucks, luxurious buses, mini buses, vans, and other vehicles that are presently parked along the highway from the NNPC Mega Station section of Nkwoegwu down to Ubakala Junction.

The decision also involves the removal of makeshift shops, shanties, and unauthorized commercial structures within the specified areas.

The directive, conveyed through an official statement released via the Abia Update Twitter account (@Abia_Update), aims to decongest the roadways, reduce road safety risks, and improve the overall appearance of the state capital and its environs. The state government emphasizes the importance of adhering to these changes for the greater good of the community.

Those affected by this directive have until Wednesday, August 17, 2023, to comply with the orders. Beyond this date, the state authorities have announced their intention to take firm action, including impounding vehicles found parked within the specified zones and removing any shops that remain standing in those areas.
