Gov Obaseki locks deputy out of office

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki’s ongoing conflict with his deputy, Philip Shaibu, took a surprising turn on Monday. Governor Obaseki decided to prevent his estranged deputy from entering the Government House.

Philip Shaibu arrived at his office on Monday to a startling sight. The gate to the deputy governor’s office and the main entrance to the building were securely locked with chains and heavy padlocks. He and his team waited for about an hour, attempting unsuccessfully to contact the governor during this time.

An anonymous aide to the deputy governor shared photos publicly, revealing the situation. They also mentioned that the deputy governor had informed the Commissioner of Police and the Director of State Services about being locked out of his office, but no official communication regarding this action was received.
