Enugu’s Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has officially set up an eight-person panel to examine the operations of the Enugu-based state polytechnic, Institute of Management and Technology (IMT).
The investigative group, titled the Committee of Inquiry into Accounts, Management Practices, and Staff Conduct, is led by Prof. Ed Nwobodo as Chairman, and Chinenye Angela as Secretary.
Other members of the Committee include: Osita Onuma, Dr. Ada Nwonye, Barr. Lilian Ikwueze, Amb. Judy Nweke, Dr. Moses Otiji, and Vincent Onyeabor.

During the inauguration at the Government House in Enugu on Monday, Governor Mbah underlined the committee’s importance in ensuring the institution’s credibility.
He expressed confidence in the capacity of the committee’s leadership and members to successfully fulfill their mandate.
Represented by Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, the Secretary to the State Government, the Governor emphasized the committee’s potential to set a new direction for the institution and the government’s actions in higher education in the state.
The committee’s responsibilities encompass evaluating the legal and policy framework underpinning the Business Committee’s establishment, analyzing student fee categories and payment methods, examining adherence to laws and regulations in staff appointments, scrutinizing revenue sources and collection mechanisms, investigating instances of financial demands on students, and addressing other pertinent issues. The goal is to arrive at well-founded conclusions and recommendations.
In response, Prof. Nwobodo, the committee’s Chairman, expressed gratitude to Governor Mbah for the opportunity and affirmed their commitment to a comprehensive and thorough examination.
The committee is expected to submit its findings within a two-week timeframe.
