Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has praised Master Ernest Ifeanyichukwu Ofoama for his outstanding achievement as the top scorer in Enugu State during the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
In a ceremony at the Government House, Enugu, Governor Mbah expressed his pleasure at the academic excellence demonstrated by the 18-year-old student and assured continued support for his educational pursuits.
Enugu’s First Lady, Mrs. Nkechiyere Mbah, extended a scholarship worth ₦1,000,000 and additional incentives through her foundation, Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), to assist Master Ofoama in pursuing his preferred university course.

Governor Mbah emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing education in the state, detailing plans to revamp public schools through advanced teaching tools like multimedia software, simulations, augmented reality, and artificial intelligence, fostering an environment conducive to effective learning.
Highlighting Master Ofoama as an inspiration to fellow students, Governor Mbah encouraged all Enugu State students to focus on their studies with diligence, resilience, and innovation. He reiterated the government’s dedication to providing support and incentives to nurture learning throughout the state.
Master Ofoama, a resident of Awha-Imezi in Ezeagu Local Government Area, achieved a remarkable score of 347 in the UTME. His achievement earned him not only recognition from the governor but also the esteemed First Lady’s scholarship award. The scholarship presentation ceremony is scheduled to occur at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on August 26, 2023.
