Governor Peter Mbah Applauds ESUT Vice Chancellor’s National Recognition

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, on Thursday, lauded the Vice Chancellor of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Prof. Aloysius-Michaels Okolie, over his emergence as the Most Outstanding Vice Chancellor in Nigeria in 2024.

Recall that the Commonwealth Society of Nigeria on March 11, 2025, during its annual conference, conferred Prof. Okolie with the prestigious honour owing to his leadership and innovative contributions in research, human development, and community service since his assumption of office as the ESUT Vice Chancellor.

State Government’s Commitment to Academic and Infrastructure Growth

While congratulating Prof. Okolie, Gov. Mbah, who was represented by the Enugu State Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Prof. Sam Ugwu, during the 43rd inaugural lecture of ESUT, stated that owing to the culture of academic excellence and uncommon breakthroughs in research and innovation entrenched by the present administration in ESUT, the university is now the most sought-after tertiary institution in South East Nigeria.

He equally commended the present management of ESUT over rapid infrastructure development and expansion of its academic programmes, restating the commitment of the state government to support the institution in its research and community development endeavours.

He stated that the constant inaugural lectures by ESUT would further cement fruitful collaborations between the town and gown for societal growth.

He also restated the commitment of the state government in promoting the health of the residents in Enugu, adding that apart from the Type 3 hospitals being constructed in all the 260 political wards in the state, there is also an ongoing construction of an international hospital in the state.
