Gabonese Military Officers Announce Coup, Citing Crisis and Instability

A group of Gabonese army officers operating under the banner of the Committee for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions (CTRI) have taken control of the country, citing serious institutional, political, economic, and social crises as the driving factors behind their coup.

In a nationwide address delivered on national television, the junta outlined their reasons for taking over power from President Ali Bongo.
