In a significant development, the Federal University of Transportation (FUT), Daura, located in Katsina State, has received the green light from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence fourteen key programs. This approval follows the recent visit of the NUC resource verification team to the university.
In a letter dated October 18, 2023, addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Umar Adam-Katsayal, and signed by the acting Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar Girei, the NUC announced the go-ahead for the establishment of full-time mode programs at the university’s main campus, effective from the 2023/2024 session.
The approved programs encompass a wide range of engineering disciplines, including Civil Engineering, Electrical Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, and Railway Engineering. Additionally, programs related to transport management, logistics, maritime safety, and economics have also received the NUC’s approval.

However, the letter emphasized that this approval does not extend to part-time delivery of the programs, and any changes to the program titles will require the commission’s approval.
