In a significant move aimed at revitalizing the Rivers State Traditional Rulers Council (RSTRC), Governor Siminalayi Fubara has terminated the appointment of Eze Ohna Sergeant Chidi Awuse as Chairman, citing ineffective leadership and lack of collaboration with the state government.
In his place, the governor appointed Eze Chike Worlu Wodo, the Paramount Ruler of Apara Kingdom, to lead the council forward.
The decision, announced during a special meeting at the Government House in Port Harcourt, underscores Governor Fubara’s commitment to ensuring robust leadership within the RSTRC. He expressed dissatisfaction with the previous leadership under Eze Sergeant Awuse, highlighting instances where the council allegedly disregarded government protocols, such as omitting the governor’s and deputy governor’s images from the council’s 2024 calendar.
