FIFA Women World Cup: Nigeria sting co-host Australia 3-2

In a thrilling encounter between co-host, Australia and Super Falcons of Nigeria at the ongoing FIFA Women World Cup, Nigeria stung her opponents 3-2 to move to second position in the group.

The match which took place at Brisbane Stadium saw Emily Van Egmond scoring the opening goal for Australia at the 46th minutes of first half. However, Uchenna Kanu, equalized for Nigeria with the last kick of the first half.

On the 65th minutes of second half, Osinachi Ohale, headed home at the far post to give Nigerian women the lead.

Confusion between Alanna Kennedy, and Mackenzie Arnold gifted super substitute, Asisat Oshoala, Nigeria’s third goal as she tapped the ball into the empty net in the 73 minutes of second half.

However, Kennedy scored for Australia in the 85th minutes but her effort was not enough to save her team which now sit on the 3rd position in the group B.

The ball possession was 65-35% in favour of Australia. The team equally completed 468 passes against the Super Falcons 269.
