The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has granted universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and other tertiary institutions an exemption from the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System (IPPIS) payment platform.
Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Maman, revealed this following a federal cabinet meeting chaired by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Abuja.
Maman clarified that institution heads can now conduct recruitment without involving the Head of Service of the Federation.

President Tinubu emphasized the need to remove Vice Chancellors from the recruitment platform to enhance the efficient management of these educational institutions, emphasizing the concern for management efficiency rather than questioning the integrity or platform preferences.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Muhammed Idris, emphasized the significant relief this decision brings to universities and tertiary institutions, as they can now independently manage payroll without relying on IPPIS.
