In a bid to facilitate holiday travel for Nigerians during the Christmas season, the Federal Government has revealed the involvement of five transport companies in the much-anticipated 50 percent fare reduction initiative.
Initially endorsed by President Bola Tinubu, the subsidy is aimed at easing the financial strain on citizens traveling between December 21 and January 4, 2024, seeking to reunite with family and friends.
Contrary to earlier expectations that luxury bus services would be at the forefront, recent disclosures by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Communications and Strategy, shed light on the inclusion of companies operating mini-buses.

These routes encompass critical links like Lagos-Kano, Lagos-Abuja, and Lagos-Port Harcourt, offering widespread connectivity for travelers across the country.
Government officials emphasized the initiative’s focus on alleviating the financial burden of travel expenses, particularly benefiting Christian faithful during the festive period.
