In a startling revelation, a female soldier in the Nigerian Army, identified as Ruth Ogunleye, has come forward on TikTok, accusing her senior officers of subjecting her to unbearable maltreatment.
The soldier specifically named Col. IB Abdulkareem, Col. GS Ogor, and Brig. Gen. IB Solebo as the perpetrators of the alleged harassment.
Ogunleye detailed a series of disturbing incidents, claiming that Col. Abdulkareem had not only attempted to assault her multiple times but also forcefully evicted her from her residence. The soldier further accused him of orchestrating her confinement in a psychiatric hospital for an extended period. Ogunleye asserted that these actions were in response to her refusal of the senior officer’s advances.

The soldier also accused Abdulkareem of hindering her career progression by denying her promotion courses and freezing her account for a year, leading to a lack of salary payments since February of the previous year. She narrated instances where soldiers, allegedly acting on Abdulkareem’s orders, subjected her to beatings and forced injections.
Seeking public support, Ogunleye shared her distressing experience, anticipating potential repercussions for her actions. She claimed that her father’s attempts to intervene were met with a directive from Abdulkareem to tell her to “obey the last command,” a statement she interpreted as a demand for a sexual relationship.
The Nigerian Army, in response to the viral video, has pledged to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations. Maj. Gen. Nwachukwu Onyema, the Director of Army Public Relations, emphasized the institution’s commitment to upholding integrity and morals, urging the public to allow the investigative process to unfold.
