The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has given its approval for the implementation of the Orosanye Report, aimed at reducing the cost of governance in Nigeria.
The decision, announced by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, came after the FEC meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu.
The adoption of the Orosanye Report involves the scrapping, merging, and subsuming of various government agencies, commissions, and departments.

Some entities will also be relocated under new ministries to enhance their operational efficiency. This move is part of President Tinubu’s commitment to streamlining government operations and reducing the overall cost of governance.
The minister emphasized that the decision does not imply job losses for employees of the affected agencies and departments. The restructuring is aimed at optimizing government functions and improving service delivery.
As an example of the changes, the report indicates the merger of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) with the Voice of Nigeria. The adoption of the Orosanye Report reflects a significant step towards enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of government operations in line with President Tinubu’s governance approach.
