ESUT Unveils Plan to Plant 3,000 Trees for Eco-Friendliness
The Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT, on Tuesday, rolled out plans to plant at least 3,000 trees to promote eco-friendliness and enhance the aesthetics of the university.
The plan was announced by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Aloysius-Michaels Okolie, during the inauguration of the Committee on Green Energy and Environment at the permanent site of the university, Agbani, Enugu State.
He urged the committee to seek stakeholders’ collaboration in order to realize the plan before the next World Environment Day on June 5, 2025.
Committee’s Response and Mandate
In his reaction, the chairman of the committee, Prof. Chike Nwoha, thanked the ESUT Management for finding them worthy to serve the institution in that capacity.
Prof. Nwoha, who is also the Deputy Vice Chancellor of ESUT, assured that the committee would deliver on its mandate given the abundance of human resources among the members.
The committee is tasked with outlining and implementing strategies for harnessing the benefits of green energy and environmental sustainability, as well as leading a comprehensive ornamental tree-planting exercise within the university.
Other terms of reference handed to the committee include outlining programs for the forthcoming World Environment Day and ensuring that faculties, directorates, centers, and units maintain their environment.

Other members of the committee include: Prof. Titus Enudu, Prof. Augusta Emenike, Prof. Lucy Ugwu, and Dr. Henry Ajaelu.
The rest are: Prof. Christopher Ezike, Dr. Ejike Ikenganyia, Dr. Paulinus Uke, Prof. Ifeoma Mary Okwor, Prof. Harmony Nwobodo-Nzeribe, the SUG President, Chiagozie Ezenwaji, and Dr. Mike Chiedozie Onyia, who doubles as Secretary of the Committee.
