ESUT partners Multimix Academy, Onitsha-based Business School for capacity building, skills development

The Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT, Tuesday, entered into partnership agreements with a logistic and supply chain management outfit, Multimix Academy, and an Onitsha-based Business School for competency-based capacity building, entrepreneurship and skills development certification programmes.

The Vice Chancellor of ESUT, Professor Aloysius-Michaels Okolie, while addressing the partners, said that the Management of the University had put plans on ground to reinvent a new ESUT in line with the changing realities of our time.

ESUT VC , his Management team and some key functionaries of the University with the Multimix Academy representatives at Agbani, Enugu State on Tuesday.

The Vice Chancellor further said that the dream of the University Management was to have well trained and skilled students who would either create jobs for themselves or be highly sought after by employers of labour.

He also said that the University had acquired Afrihub which it would turn into an innovation hub to train students on Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, robotics and other softwares which would make them adapt to the job demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

According to the Vice Chancellor, ESUT is in a hurry to revolutionize the aspect of entrepreneurship where students amongst other activities would be trained and certified in tailoring, ceramics, and making of fashionable bags among others.

Prof Okolie used the opportunity to commend the ESUT Director of Consultancy Services, Professor Okey Orji and his team for the unprecedented successes and achievements, noting that about half of the MoUs signed by the Management with institutions and organisations were initiated by Professor Orji.

The VC expressed confidence that the collaborations would be mutually-beneficial to all the parties involved.

Earlier, while addressing the ESUT Management, the Transformative Adviser of Multimix, Anayo Agu, explained that the certification programmes, an online programme,which would be offered in ESUT would dwell on logistics and supply chain management and other entrepreneurial related studies.

He further explained that the courses would be run as certificates and Ordinary Diploma programmes and would adopt a blended learning format.

Also, one of the Multimix Transformative Officers, Obiora Mmadu, explained that the logistics and supply chain management courses would teach the enrollees all the skills needed to survive in today’s job demands such as problem-solving techniques, creativity and critical thinking.

Similarly, the Director General of the Onitsha-based Business School, who led his team, Prof. Olusegun Sogbesan, while addressing the ESUT Management said that the partnership agreement would cover apprenticeship training as well as resources and skills development.

A Regent of Covenant University and Professor of Strategic Management with Edinburgh University, Scotland, Professor Sogbesan noted that the Onitsha Business School founded 10 years ago offers at the moment, eight subjects established on quality curriculum.

According to him , the OBS, which currently has centres for CIBN and ICAN and others have successfully organized trainings for apprentices drawn from different cities (Aba, Nnewi , Onitsha, Enugu etc).

Accompanied by the Registrar of the Business School, Dr Sylvanus Izebkokhae, Professor Sogbesan pledged to approach the collaboration mandate in ESUT with every sense of commitment and dedication with assurances of fruitful outcome for both parties.
