The Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT, on Wednesday initiated modalities to partner Luchuk Integrated Limited, on agricultural production and training.
Luchuk Integrated Limited, an Enugu-based agricultural and training farm, equally informed ESUT Management of its decision to donate 4,000 day-old chicks to the University as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR.
The Sales Manager of the farm, Chidozie Onyekeleze, explained during a courtesy call on ESUT Management that apart from the supply of day-old chicks that are disease-resistant to Enugu and environs, the farm also offers training to students and individuals on other agricultural value chains.

While speaking during the courtesy visit, the Vice Chancellor of ESUT, Professor Aloysius-Michaels Okolie, stated that the University would embark on full scale agricultural production, adding that plans are on to establish a mini ranch for commercial animal husbandry.
While describing the partnership with Luchuk Integrated Limited as a welcome development, he appreciated the farm management for donating 4,000 day-old chicks to ESUT, adding that the gesture would launch the University into full scale poultry business.
Also, the Director, ESUT Consultancy Services, Professor Okey Oji, during a media chat shortly after the courtesy call stated that ESUT has continued to collaborate with reputable institutions in its mission to rejuvenate the spirit of research and innovation amongst its staff and students.
Professor Oji stated that ESUT is poised reposition its Faculty of Agriculture to become major supplier of agriculture produces across its value chains. He added that the University has initiated modalities of fighting food inflation ravaging the entire nation. He equally encouraged the university community to embark on both subsistence and commercial agriculture productions.
Equally, the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, ESUT, Professor Emeka Nze, who stated that agriculture is the main stake of Nigeria’s economy, further said that the University would explode its vast arable farmlands for commercial agricultural purposes.
Professor Nze further assured that ESUT would not relent until it has become the food basket of Enugu State.
