In a rare show of support to Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, two of the host communities of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT, Obe , and Umueze, on Wednesday, donated 30 plots of land to the University for the ESUT nursery and primary schools.
The two host communities before handing the duly signed Deed of Customary Grant to ESUT Management at the Agbani Campus of the University, said they voluntarily donated the land as their further contribution for the development of education sector and to ensure the success of Governor Mbah’s education agenda in the state.
While speaking during the donation, the Traditional Ruler of Obe Agbo Community, HRH, Igwe Stephen Ossy Nweke, said that the gesture was a demonstration of their love for Governor Mbah and education sector development, pledging that they would continue to support ESUT to realize the dreams of the founding fathers.

He equally enjoined the University Management to continue to extend Corporate Social Responsibility to the host communities, adding that they would continue on their part to ensure peaceful and harmonious co-existence as well as assisting in ensuring security of the personnel and infrastructure of the University.
Similarly, the President General of Umueze Community, Chief Kingsley Edeh, while speaking during the donation, said that ESUT brought quality education and development to the door-step of his people.
He lauded the administrative ingenuity of ESUT Vice Chancellor, Professor Aloysius-Michaels Okolie, adding that he had brought transparency in administration and infrastructure facelift to the University since the inception of his Management team. He also pledged that his community would continue to guard ESUT jealously.
Earlier in his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of ESUT, Professor Okolie, thanked the host communities for their generosity and continued support to the University, describing the bond of collaboration between the communities and the Institution as exemplary.
Professor Okolie equally said that the University Management was committed to peace and harmonious working relationship with the host communities.
“Our goal is to deepen the cordial relationship between ESUT and its host communities and to always avail the good things coming from the University to members of the host communities. We are committed to that and we are not going to relent in our efforts to bring it to reality.

“We need peace and security and we would continue as much as possible, to see our royal fathers as our fathers, and to see members of our host communities as our brothers and sisters.
I am happy that we decided to discuss and solve our problems ourselves instead involving external bodies. We would continue to use that means in the future to ensure that there is perpetual peace between the University and the host communities,” he said.
The Vice Chancellor also remarked that the donation of the land for the development of ESUT nursery and primary schools was significant and thanked the host communities for their show of love and understanding.
While decrying the level of insecurity in the University due to its porous borders, he enjoined the host communities to always see ESUT as their fiefdom so as to guard it jealously.
