In the wake of the tragic killings of two police officers in Enugu State, Governor Dr. Peter Mbah has taken decisive action by placing a N10 million bounty on the heads of the perpetrators.
Addressing reporters after a State Security Council meeting at Government House, Enugu, Governor Mbah reiterated his commitment to utilizing all available resources to pursue the culprits and ensure that justice is served.
Present at the meeting were key security stakeholders, including the state’s Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kanayo Uzuegbu; Theresa Egbunu, the State Director of State Security Services; Brigadier General Murtala Abu, Commander of the 82nd Division of the Nigerian Army in Enugu; and Peter Ogar, State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Governor Mbah highlighted the urgency of the situation, noting that preliminary security data indicated involvement of individuals associated with the Eastern Security Network (ESN), who were reportedly sighted arriving in multiple SUVs, including a black Lexus SUV. He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or sightings to the relevant security agencies.
“We have just concluded our Security Council meeting, during which we discussed various issues, including the heinous murders of our police officers—brave men from the Enugu State Police Command—by criminals believed to be members of the ESN,” stated Governor Mbah.
He emphasized that such barbaric acts would not be tolerated in Enugu State, vowing to make the state inhospitable for criminals. Governor Mbah directed security agencies to spare no effort in apprehending and prosecuting those responsible for the reprehensible act, underscoring the importance of swift and decisive action in maintaining peace and security within the state.
The governor’s announcement of the N10 million bounty underscores the seriousness with which Enugu State authorities are addressing the issue of insecurity and violent crime.
