The Tribunal, led by Justice Kudirat Akano, had earlier in the day rejected the petitions of PRP’s candidate, Chris Agu, and LP’s candidate, Chijioke Edeoga.
Speaking from the Government House in Enugu, Governor Mbah stated, “This is another momentous day in our state’s history, as the Enugu State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal has upheld the mandate that you, the people, freely bestowed upon us on March 18th this year. This victory is not only for the people of Enugu but also for democracy, development, growth, and the overall greatness of Enugu.”
He also praised the tribunal for carefully scrutinizing the petitions and delivering a just and fair decision that resonated with the people of Enugu.
Governor Mbah expressed his renewed confidence in the judiciary as the guardian of justice and the last resort for the common citizen.
Extending an olive branch to his opponents, he said, “There is a time for everything under the sun. We all sought to serve the people of Enugu. The people have spoken, and the Tribunal has affirmed their choice. Now is the time to rise above partisanship and work together to build the Enugu State of our dreams.”
Governor Mbah reiterated his commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises and urged the people to hold him accountable for those commitments. He concluded by expressing his gratitude to the people of Enugu for their unwavering support and pledged to dedicate himself to their welfare and the development of the state.
