Members of the 8th Enugu State House of Assembly, ENHA, weekend, extended hands of fellowship to the Management of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT, pledging to support the University in realizing her education agenda in the state.
The State Lawmakers represented by ENHA Committee on Education, Science and Technology and led by their Chairman, Hon. Osita Eze gave the assurance during their familiarization visit to ESUT.
Addressing members of ESUT Management, Hon. Eze said their visit was to explore areas to build and enhance the fortunes of ESUT as well as foster symbiotic relationship between members of the House of Assembly and ESUT Management.

Hon. Eze further said that the House was ready to support ESUT, especially in the areas of lawmaking and amendments to promote education ideals in the University, adding that the state Governor, Peter Mbah, was determined to revitalize the education sector in the state.
“We are here to extend our hands of fellowship to the ESUT Management, we are solidly behind the Management. Our support will come in different ways.
“We are ready to support you if there are challenges you are facing that can be solved by the House of Assembly. If there are difficulties you are having that have to do with lawmaking or amendment, we will support you.
“ESUT is our Institution and we are proud of it,” he said.
While congratulating the lawmakers on their victory at the polls, the Vice Chancellor of ESUT, Prof Aloysius-Michaels Okolie, said the Management has been making efforts to complete all the abandoned projects in the University through the assistance of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund.
Prof. Okolie, equally told the lawmakers that top on the priority of the infrastructure needs of the University, is the perimetre fencing which would help to check crimes and criminalities and equally attract investment in the Institution
He further informed the lawmakers that ESUT has digitized her Records Office to ensure that the graduates of the University get their transcripts at the click of a button, adding that the security features on the Institution’s Certificates have been enhanced to enable employers to detect forged versions.
He also said that the present Management of the University was poised to reinventing the core values of the founding fathers of the Institution which is “technology for service,” adding that the Management has placed more emphasis on skills acquisition and, has equally extended hands of collaborations and partnerships to private sectors to realize her targets.
“We have signed an MoU with an airport wing at Emene, Enugu State because we have a lot of things we shall be doing with them in repairs and training.
“Presently, we are exploring collaborations with foreign universities . In agriculture, we are thinking of a lot of investments,” he said.
He assured the lawmakers of harmonious working relationship, stating that the University was poised to promoting universal principles.
Other members of the ENHA Committee on Education, Science and Technology in the Chairman’s entourage include: the Vice Chairman, Malachy Onyechi; Chukwudi Nwankwo; Gabriel Eze; Magnus Ede.
