The forfeiture of these assets was ordered by Justice C.E. Nwecheonwu of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Kuje, in January. Aisosa Kelvin Ohue, also known as Frederick Leonard, was convicted on a three-count charge related to obtaining money by false pretense. The charges stemmed from a love scam in which the fraudster posed as the famous actor Frederick Leonard, deceiving Ms. Cook into believing he was in love with her and would marry her.
The conviction and subsequent recovery of assets highlight the EFCC‘s commitment to combatting internet fraud and ensuring that victims receive restitution for their losses.
