In a sweeping investigation targeting forex allocations during Godwin Emefiele’s tenure as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has made its presence felt at the headquarters of Dangote Group and several other companies, a development confirmed by office staff to The Cable on Wednesday.
Amidst the ongoing inquiry into forex transactions during Emefiele’s tenure at the CBN, unidentified workers at the company’s headquarters have reported the arrival of EFCC operatives. As revealed by the employees speaking under the cloak of anonymity to the news outlet, these officials are currently conducting a detailed search into the forex allocations extended to the company during the period of Emefiele’s stewardship at the CBN.
At the time of this report, attempts to reach out to EFCC’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, for comments on this ongoing development have proven unsuccessful.

Quoting an employee within the Dangote Group, The Cable reported that EFCC personnel explicitly sought documents pertaining to forex transactions conducted in collaboration with the CBN.
“They demanded documents concerning our forex transactions with the CBN,” stated the anonymous employee in the report.
The unfolding investigation appears to delve deeply into the allocation and utilization of foreign exchange during Emefiele’s leadership at the apex bank, involving multiple companies beyond the Dangote Group.
As the probe continues, the EFCC’s efforts underscore the agency’s rigorous pursuit of transparency and accountability within the financial corridors of key Nigerian conglomerates during the specified period.
