The procedures pertaining to the arrest and bail of suspects have been amended by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) following the recent arrest of 69 individuals suspected of engaging in online fraud.
All EFCC commanders have been instructed to stop their nocturnal sting operations by Mr. Ola Olukoyede, the Executive Chairman of the Commission. The directive, which was released on November 1, 2023, was prompted by the EFCC agents’ recent arrests in OAU, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
Many of the detained individuals have already been appropriately profiled and freed as a result of these adjustments. We will also finish profiling the remaining suspects who haven’t been revealed right away. The EFCC assures the public of its steadfast dedication to these principles and restates its commitment to protecting the rule of law while executing its mandate.

The recent nighttime raid is one of many instances where the EFCC has conducted raids on the homes of Nigerians during the night, which is a cause for concern. With this order in place, the public can observe and assess whether the EFCC will comply with it.
