According to a copy of the accusation obtained by Channels Television, Cubana Chief Priest is facing three counts related to tampering with Nigerian currency, a violation of the Central Bank Act of 2007. The allegations outlined in the charges specify instances where Cubana Chief Priest purportedly tampered with funds during social gatherings. Count 1 accuses him of spraying and tampering with N500 (Five Hundred Naira) notes issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria during a social event at Eko Hotel on February 13, 2024. Similar allegations are made in Counts 2 and 3, relating to incidents in Lagos in 2020 and January 2024, respectively.
These charges against Cubana Chief Priest come shortly after the EFCC charged another controversial figure, Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, with similar offenses. Bobrisky was subsequently sentenced to six months in prison for his involvement in money laundering activities.
As Cubana Chief Priest prepares to face the court, the case underscores the EFCC’s continued efforts to combat financial crimes and enforce the provisions of the Central Bank Act.
