In a resounding call to action, Abdulkarim Chukkol, the Acting-Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has charged 332 recently graduated cadets to stand firmly against indiscipline and corruption.
This vital message was delivered during the Passing out Parade of the 332 Detective Assistant Course 4 Officers at the Police Mobile Training College in Ende Hills, Akwanga, Nasarawa State, on September 28, 2023.
The EFCC, as a staunch anti-graft agency, places immense importance on its core values of integrity, courage, professionalism, and collaboration.

Chukkol emphasized that new recruits must embody these values in their conduct, and he firmly warned that the Commission would not tolerate any form of indiscipline. Violations of the established code of conduct would be met with appropriate sanctions, he cautioned.
Addressing the graduating cadets, Chukkol encouraged them to stay focused and committed to the noble profession they have chosen. He stressed that law enforcement in the realm of economic and financial crimes is a critical national service and a career that takes years to build, but it can be irreparably damaged by a moment of careless indiscretion or poor judgment.
Reflecting on the training provided to the cadets, Chukkol highlighted that they underwent comprehensive instruction in law enforcement. This encompassed legal studies, financial studies, operational studies, and information and communication technology (ICT). They were also introduced to the policies and operational manual of the Commission, which will serve as a guiding framework for their behavior within and outside the organization.
Chukkol lauded the EFCC’s remarkable contributions to the country, emphasizing its role in erasing Nigeria’s tarnished image as a hub for 419 scams and its detrimental impact on the economy. He revealed that the Commission had secured an impressive 1688 convictions between January and September, with promising prospects for more convictions by year-end.
Furthermore, Chukkol underscored the Commission’s commitment to its preventive mandate and its engagement with various stakeholders. Notably, the EFCC has initiated test transmissions for its radio station, EFCC Radio 97.3, a pioneering step to enhance public engagement in the fight against corruption.
Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE1 Babashani Umar Sanda, urged the cadets to uphold the values of the Commission, while the Commandant of the Police Mobile Training College, PMTC, DCP Urutugu Ikioye, called for sustained synergy between the EFCC and PMTC, especially in combat tactical operations.
As a recognition of excellence, Henry Okolie earned the Overall Best Cadet Award, Sambo Daniel Umoho secured the First Runner-Up Award, Olusegun Ibiloye was honored as the Second Runner-Up, and Agu Chidera received the Award for Command and Leadership. Sani Usman Mohammed and Idowu Maryam Bashir were awarded the Marksman and Markswoman Awards, respectively, for their exceptional skills and dedication.
