In a recent operation, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has cracked down on an alleged internet fraud training ring in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State, arresting 24 individuals undergoing tutelage as internet scammers.
The operation, conducted based on intelligence reports, targeted a suspected hideout for training internet fraudsters at Ewet Housing Estate and Nelson Mandela areas. The all-male suspects were apprehended in two locations during an intelligence-driven sting operation.
Among the items recovered from the premises and suspects were five exotic cars, 18 laptops, 17 mobile phones, and one internet router.
