The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken significant action against fraud by apprehending Stephen Acheme Akpa, the chief executive of Zoe New Dawn Nigeria Limited.
Akpa has been arrested for his alleged involvement in a land fraud amounting to Five Hundred Million Naira (N500,000,000), according to a statement released by the EFCC Nigeria.
Akpa’s initial arrest took place on December 2, 2022, at his office located in the Idu axis of Abuja. This arrest followed a petition that accused him of obtaining the sum of N500,000,000 under false pretenses.

At the time, he was set to face a five-count charge in court. However, he evaded his administrative bail, delaying the legal proceedings against him.
Efforts to locate and apprehend Akpa remained unsuccessful until August 9, 2023, when he was rearrested by the EFCC. This development paves the way for his impending arraignment in court to face the charges related to the alleged land fraud.
The EFCC’s actions highlight their continued dedication to combating financial crimes and fraudulent activities in Nigeria. The arrest of individuals like Akpa aims to uphold the rule of law, promote transparency, and ensure justice is served.
