In a significant legal move, the Gombe Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has brought charges against two individuals, Adamu Muhammad Dila and Aminu Sani (currently evading arrest). These charges stem from allegations of criminal misappropriation and cheating, with a substantial sum of N10,560,000 at the center of the case.
On Monday, September 18, 2023, Adamu Muhammad Dila found himself before the bench of Justice A. Muhammad at the Gombe State High Court, Gombe. The charges brought against him, along with his co-defendant Aminu Sani (who remains at large), encompass three counts related to criminal misappropriation and cheating.
One of the charges, as stated in the court documents, reads: “That you, Adamu Dila and Aminu Sani, sometime in February in Gombe, Gombe State, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, dishonestly converted to your personal use goods (flour powder) worth the sum of N10,560,000.00 (Ten Million Five Hundred and Sixty Thousand Naira), belonging to one Aliyu Abdullahi Aliyu, and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 308 and punishable under Section 309 of the Penal Code Law.”

Following his plea of not guilty to the three-count charges, Adamu Muhammad Dila faced the prosecution counsel, H. Damina, who requested the court to set a trial date, allowing for the assembly of witnesses. Furthermore, the prosecution sought the court’s order to remand the defendant in a Custodial facility.
In response to these requests, Justice Muhammad scheduled the trial to commence on October 16, 2023. Simultaneously, the defendant, Adamu Muhammad Dila, was remanded at the Medium Security Custodial Center in Gombe.
