The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission has issued a statement dismissing the recent announcement by Mali, Niger Republic, and Burkina Faso about their intention to withdraw from the regional bloc.
The Commission clarified that it has not received any official notification from the three member states regarding their purported exit.
In response to the surprising broadcast on national television stations in Mali and Nigerien, where the three countries claimed to be leaving ECOWAS, the regional body expressed concerns about the situation. However, it underlined that no formal notification has been received, emphasizing that Burkina Faso, Niger Republic, and Mali remain integral members of the ECOWAS Community.
