In a recent development, courts in Oyo and Ogun states have delivered verdicts against 37 individuals involved in internet fraud-related activities.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) revealed that these convictions came after the defendants pleaded guilty to one-count charges of internet fraud, following arraignments between November and December.
The EFCC, responsible for their arrests and subsequent legal proceedings, detailed that sentences varied from jail terms to community service. Additionally, these convicted individuals were directed to make restitution to their victims and forfeit seized assets to the Nigerian government.

The list of those convicted includes Aladelusi Temitope Matthew, Akinade Abimbola Oluwaseun, Gbenga Musbau Adebayo, among others, each tried across different courts in Oyo and Ogun states.
The courts presiding over the cases included the Oyo State High Court in Ibadan, the Federal High Court in Ibadan, and the Ogun State High Court in Abeokuta.
These legal entities handed down varied sentences, with some receiving one-year imprisonment, while others were mandated to perform community service ranging from one to six months.
