A non-partisan socio-cultural group in Enugu North Senatorial District of Enugu State under the umbrella of ‘Nsukka Ezue,’ on Tuesday, vowed to press on with the demand for the creation of Adada State.
The group which said it had set up a five-man committee to draft its memorandum for submission to the National Assembly for the state creation, lauded members of the 10th National Assembly for their call for submissions of memoranda for the amendment of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
These disclosures were contained in a communique issued by the President of the group, Prof. Damian Opata, at the end of its first 2024 meeting held in the university town of Nsukka on Sunday.

While thanking President Bola Tinubu for appointing a son of the District, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla as the Chief of Naval Staff, the group equally lauded Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State for the construction of Smart Schools in the state and for embarking on other development projects, enjoining him to spread the projects evenly across the state.
Part of the communique reads, “Nsukka Ezue felicitates with all elected persons at both executive and legislative levels of government, especially now that the Supreme Court has since completed and put an end to all litigations arising from the 2023 elections.
“It is immensely thankful to the President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on his extending of high-level appointments to Enugu North Senatorial District, in particular, his appointment of Chef of Naval Staff, Vice-Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, from this zone, the first ever in history such high-level appointment was extended to this long- neglected zone.
“It identifies with the policy of Town Hall meetings by His Excellency the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Barr. Peter Ndubisi Mbah, as such a policy in the extensive manner in which it was held on 23rd March brings him nearer to the people. It specifically identifies with the smart school system and the ongoing construction of smart schools in wards across the State.
“The Association further endorses all development going on in the state and calls on the Governor to continue to ensure that his such projects are evenly spread throughout the State.
“The Association calls on all Nigerian citizens to realize that elections are over, especially as the Supreme Court has successfully resolved all election petitions arising from the 2023 elections. It is now time for all to support Government at all levels to foster development in all sectors of the economy and uplift the welfare of the people.

“The Associations strongly believes that constructive opposition is a sine qua non for good governance, but cautions against the misuse of social media, veritable instruments for conscientization of the people, for name calling and sheer ventilation of anger due to loss in the 2023 elections. This is no time for campaigns, but for governance.
“The Association expresses its delight in the call for submissions of memoranda to amend the Constitution by members of the 10th National Assembly. In this respect, the Association calls on all citizens of Enugu North Senatorial District to participate in the process, especially on the provision that has to do with “The Process of State Creation”. We cannot let the demand for the creation of Adada State die. Nsukka Ezue has already set up a five-man committee to draft its memorandum for submission to the National Assembly.”
